Sir George Itcid has recovered from Ins illness and has resumed his duties. A London message reports the death of Lord Nelson, the third Earl, at the age of 90 years. •Mr. Black, of Fitzroy, who has been confined to liis bed for some weeks, is now about again, Mr. Theodore Pioosevelt's second daughter Ethel is engaged to marry Dr. Richard Derbv, a llavard graduate of 1903. . Mr. \Y. D. Little, assistant organiser to the Bible in State Schools' League, is now visiting New Plymouth and district on behalf of the League. .Mr. Alfred Dillon. ex-M.P., was entertained at Waipawa on Tuesday night and presented with an illuminated address by the Mayor. Mrs. Dillon was presented with a silver tea and coffee service.
The Rev. A, H. Colvik, who has been participating in Lenten services at Auckland, left for home, last night. On Sunday evening lie preached an impressive service to a crowded congregation at St. Mary's, Parnell. Mr. F. Sandford, a son of Mr. F. W. Sandford, of New Plymouth, won both the bull's-eye championship and the service championship at the South Island Rifle Association's championship meeting. held at Christehurch this week. The following appointments have been made to the staff of instructors at the New Plymouth Technical College:—Analytic al chemistry. Mustwick; mechanical engineering, Messrs WalKer, A.M.1.M.E.. and Morrison; wireless telegraphy. Mr. Reiiaud; physiology and bota ny, Mr. R. J. Sinclair; electrical engineering, Mr. Huggett; elocution, Mr. J. Ainslie.
