Oil Thursday evening Mr. and Mrs. J. Latireiison were tendered a farewell social by the members and congregation of the Methodist Church, of which Mr. Laurenson has been a prominent worker. Several speakers expressed their regret at the loss of such a family to the church and the community generally. Mr. J. Masters, oil behalf of the congregation, presented Mr. Laurenson with a line travelling rug. Musical, instrumental and other items and supper helped to pass off a pleasant evening. A Xgaere farmer has sold his herd of grade Jersey cows at the fine rate of £2l per head. Who says that it does not pay to breed good cattle?

To-night will usher in a complete change of programme at His Majesty's Theatre. The dramas all grip with a vivid intensity. The Essanay Company show a Western drama, "A Woman of Arizona," which shows the depths to which human kind can descend. "More Precious than Gold" is an Edison drama in which is depicted a crook broker's oilicc. where a wild cat mining proposition is launched on an unsuspecting public. '•Outwitted by Horse and Lariat," a Solax production, and "The Village Vixen." a Kalem release, are the other sustaining dramas. The comics are all of high interest and mirth-producing, being fieaded by an Edison comedy, which is both interesting and amusing, entitled '"Helping -John." The scenics are good. The sea and sky effects in some twilight views of the Turkish sea, coast battle description, whilst the Cossacks of the Urals will be seen at some manoeuvres, which include ' a marvellous display of horsemanship that appears incredible.
