BOWLING.

THE XF.W PIAMOITH TOURISTS. DEFEAT GREY LYNN. By Telegraph—Own Correspondent. Auckland, Last Xight. The Xew Plymouth tourist bowling' leam of five rinks commenced operations this afternoon, when they met Grey Lynn. Members of the team were shaken up by the rough trip up on oiin-j day, and this morning's respite- was very! welcome. The team made a good start, winning by 100 to 88, after a very interesting and enjoyable game. Rain fell in the morning, but the sun shone in the afternoon, and the green was in good condition, the only trouble being the strong wind, which frequently puzzled the trundlers.

Prior to starting play, Mr. James Carlaw, chairman of the committee arranging the Auckland matches with New Plymouth, heartily welcomed the New Plymouth visitors, remarking that the Auckland and Xew Plymouth clubs were the oldest bowling clubs in the country, and in the old days matches between them were frequent. For some years the visits were allowed to drop, but he was very pleased, as were all Auckland players, that they were being revived, and he hoped they would long continue. Mr. James Pascoe, president of the Grey Lynn Club, also extended a warm welcome. The following are details of the scoring:— A.N.P. Cotterill.
