FRICTION AT HUNTLY
''FEDEIiATIONISTS" AND "ARBITRATIONISTS." Auckland. Thursday. There is apparently still friction at Huntly between the "federationists" and the "arbitrationists." Last evening's meeting of Huntly Coal Miners' Union was held, and proceedings became very lively. Eventually the chairman declared the meeting closed and with the secretary and others left the meeting.
Those who remained decided to have a meeting on their own and a vote of noconfidence was carried against the executive of (he union. A new executive was appointed. The attitude of the company was again discussed and matters took a rather ominous note. The result of the meeting is considered to be victory for the "federationists." It is understood that last night a notice of motion to wind up the new union, was to have been brought forward, but the secretary of the union, when seen on the matter, stated that his executive had taken legal advice on the matter, and their solicitors advised that such could not be done until the union cancelled its registration under the Conciliation and Arbitration Act, and in the event of this happening the Union would render itself liable to penalties provided for in its agreement with the company. ! * tffV.B.
As the result of last night's meeting; | it, is understood that the executive o(\ tlic Tluntly Coal Miners' Union have laid ' an action for trespass against non-mm-j hers (if the union who took a,' leading j part in the disturbance.
