Commenting on the curious fact that British Socialists are supporting federalism in Ireland, the Morning Post say 3 that the Socialists in power in the Commonwealth and in certain State Governments find themselves tied hand and fool by the States, which refuse to accept socialism. Consequently, Australian socialists are clamoring for unification. Mr. Fisher made a whole-hearted denunciation of the federal system, and called the Australian constitution the worst in the world. Such an opinion was in accord with the whole policy of Air. Fisher's Government. If their reforms were accepted. Home Rule would be abolished. Centralisation was a necessary preliminary to socialism. The agitation in favor of fixing wages and the prices of commodities forced upon thp Government was a preposterous interference, which must end in failure and disillusionment.
