A big colliery disaster was reported at Fukuoka'. in Kiushiu, the southernmost of the three principal islands of Japan, in the Pacific Ocean. An explosion occurred in one of the mines there, as a result of which 150 men were entombed. How many were killed is not yet known, but the death roll is believed to have been a heavy one.
