WANGANTL COMPETITIONS. By Telegraph—Press Association. Vfaiiganui, Last Night. The Eire Brigade competitions were, commenced to-day in glorious weather. The entries are excepfioualy heavy, being a record for the Doiniuion. The following are the results so far:Ladder Race (one man) Booth (Gaiiiam) S 2-ssee. I; Peters (Hawera) 8 4-ssee. 2; MtTciiisLey- I luvercargill Railway) 7 4-ssee. 3. Armit (Rosyln) Ssec, Plain (Spit) 8 :)-.">-«. and Duncan (Dunedin City) S 4-ssec also competed. In the first liin-olf Oai.rni and Hawera led with ' 7 3-jscc. the others coming next with 7 4-asee, and the above times are the results of the nms-off of ties.
Manual Engine (five men)—Timaru, 1 mill Bsee. 1; Carterton.. Iniin 13sec, 2, Masterton. lmin 15 :}-ssec. :!. Spit lmin 20sec, Rangiora lmin 21) 4-osee, and Dunedin City lmin 21 4-ssec also competed.
Hose "iiml Hydrant (three men)— Tiiiiavu, 21 4-ssee, 1; Danuevirkc. 23 2-5 see. 2. Dunedin City and Cisbome are to run off for the third place.
Coupling Event (two men)— Dannevirke, :i'.lscc. 1; Timaru. 41 l-ssec, 2; Pa tea. 44sec. 3. Xapier (six see penalty) 50 )-ss(v and Hastings 42sec. also started. I'atea ami Napier had to run oil' fur \'.;c'r re-peelive places.
In the Disabled Hose event for five men. Hillside Railway, lmin 12 2-ssec. Hasting- lmin 15 ;l-ssee, and Alexandra, lmin 17 l-ssec are the best so far.
