Three men (Malcolm, Pengelly, and Guinnane), employees of the Railway Department, went out in a boat to fish off Paekakariki late this afternoon, at a distance of less than half a mile from the shore. A heavy swell upset tlie boat. Guinnar.e and Malcolm hung on to the side of the boat, but Pengelly. sank immediately and was not seen again.
