A MELBOURNE TRAGEDY.
SUPPOSED MURDER AND SUICIDE. By Cable—Press Association —Copyright. Melbourne, February 18. A mysterious tragedy has occurred at Carlton. A woman, with her bead almost severed, was found dead, and a man. with his throat badly cut, in a precarious state. A blood-stained razor was alongside the pair, who were found lying in the street. The woman bad a I hand-bag containing a bank-book, with the name Alice Hudson. The man is nnI known. It is supposed to be a case of murder and suicide.
THE VICTIMS IDENTIFIED. Received IS. 9.15 p.m. Melbourne, February IS. In the Carlton tragedy the man has been identified as James Rawlings, a laborer, and the woman as Alice Hudson, residing at Carlton. Rawlings has a chance of recovering.
