TUBERCULOUS MEAT.

A CHRISTCHURCH CASE. By Telegraph —Press Association. Christehurcli, Last Night. Despite the steps taken by the municipality to ensure that the meat supply of the city shall be wholesome, it appears that means are found to defeat that desirable and commendable object. One day last week the City Council's chief inspector, accompanied by an officer of the Department of Agriculture, went to the shop of a certain retail butcher in the city, and there found cut up and exposed for sale a carcase of veal on which could not be found or was not <visible the brand put on all carcases passed as fit for human consumption by the inspector at the municipal abattoirs. The veal was seized by Mr. F. 'Mackenzie, inspector of stock at Cliristchurch, and on examination it is alleged to have been found to be tubercular veal. It was also seen and examined by Mr. H. S. Kyle, manager of the municipal abbatoirs. It was destroyed on Saturday morning. The matter is at present in the hands of the Department of Agriculture, and it is understood that a prosecution will be instituted. _____________ I
