A prominent ollicial of the Union Company is leaving Xew Zealand for Canada early in April, and one of the objects of his vi*it to Canada and America will be to make arrangements for an extensive addition to the fleet of mail steamers •which are now running between Vancouver, San Francisco ami X( w Zealand ports. Tt is also reported that the Canadia Pacific Railway ComIMiiv intends either to place a vessel on the run between Auckland and Vancouver or to subsidise the service, so that it will be extended. It is understood that the Union Company has in contemplation the building' of a second Xiagara, and also mail steamers which will complete the AucklandVancouver run in 14 days, instead of IS as at present. Ccnc.ally speaking. shipping companies are said to have intentions of paying a great deal more attention to the Pacific service.-, than has formerly been the case. These changes, it is reported, will also include .several important alterations in the terminal ports in intercolonial services.
