Invitations had been sent out to neighboring clubs, and a few of these availed themselves of the opportunity. Tu a very neat speech the president (Mr. Strombom) declared the court open, and a very enjoyable afternoon was snrif. light, refreshments being provided i>v the ladies.

Friday might have been called the children's day. this being the occasion of the annual school picnic, which was held in the school ground. A good programme had been arranged, and T think races for the children took up most of the, afternoon, the prizes being a splendid assortment of first-class toys. Mr; Lundon was lucky enough to secure first prize in the committeemen's race. The day was brought to a close by a very successful dance, for which the music was supplied by Misses Davis. Wilson. Calgher, TTill and Easeelles, and Messrs Marsh. JTutton and O'Connor.

On the Dth picnic parties set out for the Tangarakan Oorge and the Whanga. Saddle respectively. Both parties had a very enjoyable time, the bush in these localities being at this time of the year vrrv inviting. Misses "Davis and Lascelles are visiting Mrs. W. H. Header. * Messrs Marsh Bros, returned from Taihi'iie last week.
