THE MEXICAN REVOLT.
A FIERCE EXGAOEMEXT. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Mexico City, February 12. The Federal troops re-opened battle, attacking the arsenal at daylight. A fierce engagement followed, hundreds being killed in the streets. The rebels turned the Men's Christian Association building into a fortress, where under cover they fusihided the Palace with machine guns. They set numbers of buildings on fire and a eonflgration is raging. The British Legation was under fire.. The Federals placed a battery of artillery by the British Legation, in order to afford it protection. AMERICAN FORCE READY. Washington, February 12. An United States expeditionary force of 3000 men is ready to depart for Mexico. Marines are also in readiness. FIERCE FIGHTING. THE CITY A SHAMBLES. ! Received 13. 9.55 p.m. Mexico City. February 13. The Diaz factions here have united with the Orozco revolutionists in the northern States to prosecute the revolt against General Madero. Tin- British and oilier ambassadors were called to the National Palace at noon, and conferred with President Madero with a view to securing an armis tice. The diplomatic corps al-o sent a representative to confer with General Diaz, whom they reached after running the gauntlet of a severe rifle fire, until General Diaz was able to control the troops. General Diaz refu-ed an armistice. The Government forces combined in a fierce attack in the hope of dislodging the rebels. There was a rain of bullets throughout the day. Several Americans were amongst those killed in the streets. Automobiles under while flag- removed the women and children to file embassies, out of danger.
