SPORTING.

The Rotorua Cup, which was run\ yesterday, was won by Semolina. Mr. McMahon, one of the newlj-ap-pointed Stipendiary Stewards, was present at the Taranaki Jockey Club's meeting yesterday, and his supervision of the racing was productive of good results. As a result of his observations C. Monk, rider of Patriotic in the Cup, *\vas suspended for the rest of the meeting, for interfering with Byron, and was cautioned that if he offended again his license would be cancelled altogether. A. Oliver, rider of Muleteer in the Welter, was_ also before the stewards, and was cautioned as to his riding. A Sydney cablegram states that Royal Scotch has been scratched for the Doncaster Handicap and Sydney Cup.
