J There has been .serious riofuig in the i vicinity of Parliament, and have been made to wreck and bum bureaucratic newspaper offices. Gendarmes sabred rioters, six being killed (and several wounded. The military are patrolling the streets. STRENUOUS POLITICS. A PITCHED BATTLE. THE DIET SUSPENDED. Received 12, 12.30 a.m. Tokio, February 11. The Mikado, in a rescript, has ordered Saionji to try and alleviate the situation in the direction of abandoning the censure by the Government of two members of the late Cabinet in favor of compliance. Others are unwilling to com] Mimisc. A crowd surrounded the Diet and cheered the arrival of the Oppositionists. The police made repeated charges. Fifteen were injured'. A rescript has been issued suspending the sitting for three days. Dense a-rowds-assembled, and the police were unable to cope with the situation. The military were then summoned. Stonethrowing occurred, and there was a renewal of the melee, followed by the rioters attacking the newspaper offices. The slnfi's replied with revolvers. One rioter. v,- ;i .s killed. The mob then looted oilshop*. soaked straw and threw it on the newspaper offices, which are now .anarded. The military charged with swords, and the mob scattered. Sections of the rioters further afield are burning tramcars and wrecking police stations. An armed force protected Katsura's residence.
