TI-IE AUSTRALIAN CHAMPIONSHIPS. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Received 0, 0.35 p.m. Sydney, February 9. The following are the results of the Australian swimming championships:— 880 yds. —Longivorth 1. Smith (New South Wales) 2. Springfield (Victoria) 3. Won easily by 27 yards. Time, 12min. 2sec. Breast Stroke. 100yds.—Finney (Victoria) heat A. Wickham by inches in a great finish. Time, lmin. 18see.

Pfankueh, the ex-New Plymouth swimmer, now a resident of Blenheim, was a competitor jit the Dominion Championship meeting held at Wanganui last week, but did not meet with much success. He got third in his heat of the 100 yds. championship, but was unplaced in the semi-final. Tie was unplaced in the half-mile, and retired in the mile after travelling half the distance. All these events were won by the Auckland crack, Champion. In the half-mile the latter beat his own record bv 2 l-f>sec.. doing the journey in 12min. losee. Pfanlcuch was a member of the Blenheim team which won the relay race.

Atkinson, of Opawa, in the 220 yds. breast stroke, beat his own record by 5 2-f>see.. putting up the fast time of 3min. osec.
