GENERAL TELEGRAMS. DROUGHT IN THE NORTH. Per Press Association. Whangarei. Last Night. The continued spell of dry weather is assuming alarming proportions. The Borough Council issued a notice this afternoon that the water in the reservoir had fallen two feet since Tuesday. If there is no. rain the waterworks* engineer estimates that the reservoir will he dry on Sunday morning. As the drainage system is dependent on the water service if there is no rain it will be thrown out of action. The weather is humid and the barometer steady. Rain is apparently improbable. The creeks are drying up fast, and the matter is serious. ALCOHOLIC POISONING. Auckland, Thursday. Violet Irene Thompson, aged twentyone months, died in hospital from what is believed to be alcoholic poisoning. She suffered from infantile diarrhoea. Her mother gave her brandy and port wine. The child became so bad that she had to be removed to the hospital, where she died. An inquest will be held. ;< Thu Friend of the Family, The Boon In the Boarding-house, The Treat to the TouristIt's fragrant flavour makes Hotel like Home!
