COST OF CREAM CARTAGE.
1 } To the Editor. Sic, —L was very much suprised oil 1 reading tlui Daily News to find that '' one-half of the last sentence in my letter had been omitted. To my mind, there ' was nothing libellous in tiie words used (even supposing such an article as the "i one mentioned did exist), and I can j only suppose they were left out either hv mistake or from personal motives. Now, Sir, I. have a pretty good idea of I | "Cow-hair's" identity, and see no reae j son why he should be allowed, through the columns of the newspaper, to "hit II off" at a perfectly legitimate concern, and which is certainly no business of *■ his, and the other side have to be con- ® tent with the printing of unfinished let- ) ters. However, perhaps I may he perJ mitted to remind "Cow-hah" of the old , saw, "Those who live in glass houses should not throw stones."—l am, etc.. [ FARMER'S WJFIi. t ' [We made the excision because the ? paragraph verged too closely on the libel line. We are not interested in ■ the matter in dispute, and desire to pro- " vide a fair field and no favor to the discussion of any matter of public ini , terest, so long as correspondents keep • within the libel laws and don't fake 1 advantage of a nom-de-plunie to rellect on a person's character. —lid.l 1 1 To the Editor. Sir,—From the general appearance of the recent correspondence in your valued ) paper, "Cost of Cream Cartage," it is very evident that Augustus E. Mathews, chairman of the Oniata Dairy Co., together with "Farmer's Wife," do not in- • tend to answer the question asked by "Cow-hair." since, both have dodged the question, and strayed away so far as ' to shave .superfluous ideas, anil advise ( ' "Cow-hair" not to bother, while "Farmer's Wife" has more time than he, but ' also left the track of cream cartage ( ' and rambled about defective chimneys, working men's homes in Spotswood, and { , her washing, as well as the laundry ( work of the lively directors. At all events, it is easy to see that the qucs- ' tion has not been answered either by < the chairman or "Farmer's Wife," and T therefore conclude that they do not intend giving the show away to'answer < the question of cost. etc.. and only waste of time also to ask them what defective chimneys, superfluous ideas, i washing linen, etc.. have to do with the < question of cream cartage at C2 His per ton, against 5s cost of other pro- j duce. —I am. etc., CREAM' CAN. 1
