A GIRL TAKES* POISO.\ T . Per Press Association. Auckland, Tuesday. A girl about twenty years of ace. dressed in male 'a I t ire, has been admitted to Hie hospital suffering from poisoning by perchloridc of mercury. Though her condition is serious she will probably recover in a few days. The Salvation Army authorities state that early last evening a well-dressed "youth" walked up to the Army Home at Parnell After ringing the door-bell "he" was seen to swallow some tabloids from a phial. Suspicion was aroused, and the police were summoned. It transpired that the visitor was a girl masquerading. She admitted having taken poison, stating that she Mas tired of life and wished to end it. She had been in service at Ponsonby. The girl was removed to the hospital.
