PATEA'S ILL-LUCK.
VESSEL STICKS ON A MUDBANK. A mishap occurred to tlie Kapvmi 011 Monday movniug as she was going down tlie river inte'viing to proceed to Wellington with a full cargo of clieese (reports the Pa tea Press). When nearing tlie rail way viaduct site wais warned thai> there was not sufficient water on the liar In warrant her attempting the passage. Captain Mcintosh thereupon endeavoured to turn her round with a view to a return being made, to the wharf. Whilst in the act of turning she touched on a nvud flat and was soon hard aground. A hig effort was made to get her off with the aid of- the ship's winch And a hawser attached to the shore but without avail. A further effort will be made this evening when there should he no difficulty in getting her off. The accident is a particularly unluclcv one for the company who had been making special efforts to get their boats away oil lime, most of the loading of the Kapuni having been carried out by the men in overtime at. the rate of Os Id an hour. The boat has sustained no damage iiir<>;■'ill i'er accident.
