FATAL STONE-THROWING. By Telegraph —Press Association. Duncdin, Last Night. A stone-throwing episode at Ravensbourne had a sad sequel at the Hospital last night, when a hoy named Ceeil Robert Randall. 11 years of age, died from hemorrhage of (lie brain. While playing with [ other hoys oil Sunday he was struck on the head by a stone thrown by a companion. Yesterday morning he became unconscious, and an operation was immediately necessary, owing to hemorrhage. The operation was performed at tlie Hospital last night, and at first he appeared to have a chance of recovery. However, he took a turn for the worse and died during the night. KILLED BY AN ENGINE. Dmicdin, Last Night. The inquest on the body of 'March Niniati Johnson, surfaceman, who was fatally injured through bciii'r dra'.tired bv a shunting engine on Saturday, was held to-day. Evidence showed that deceased must have made a mistake as to the slmnt that was in progress, thinking the j engine would take a different line from , the one he was working on. The Coroner, Mr. Graham. Raid that there seemed to. be no evidence of negligence. A FATAL FALL. Auckland, Lust Night. Samuel Bowrien. fifty years old. was killed iit llmitlv to-day. Deceased was employed on the erection of a bridge over the Waikato, and fell from a piledriving machine a distance of forty feet into the river, striking his head on a punt in falling. The body was not recovered for over an hour. Bowden's skull was badly fractured, and his right wrist broken. Tt is most probable that he was dead before reaching the water.
