FIRES.
A DISASTROUS BLAZE. (Per Press Association). Wellington. Last Night. A fire broke out late to-night in the Xew Zealand Express Company's stores in Herbert street. The flames secured a good hold, and though they are now (11.45 p.m.) under control, it is impossible to say how much the damage amounts to. The interior of ihe building is apparently badly gutted. A HOTEL DESTROYER. Tnvercargill. Last Night. Early this morning the combined hotel and refreshment rooms belonging to Mr. George Foster, at Thot'nbiiry, were completely gutted by lire. The building is i-ituat'cd at the intersection of the Otautan and Rivertou railway lines and was uninsured. Foster's loss will be heavy.
