PUKEKURA PARK BOARD.

MONTHLY MEETING. The Pukekura Park Board met last evening, the chairman (Mr. C. W. Govott) presiding. Other members present were: Messrs. W. Newman, F. P. Corkill R. Cock. 11. Ford, R. C. Hughes, G. W. Browne. CURATOR'S REPORT. In his monthly report the curator (Mr. W. W. ■Smith)" stated that the pondweed had now been subdued for the season. During the late autumn or early winter months he hoped to annihilate it completely. The steps required to complete the Yogeltown-Raeecourse walk were finished a fortnight ago. The part of the walk crossing the lower end of the terminal island in the upper lake was now open to visitors. To protect the collection of native ferns growing on the upper half of the island the staff had put wire-netting around the open spa.ee set apart for visitors. The new walk on the east side had now been completed with the exception of two steps where it formed the old disused walk on the edge of the spur. Two large packets of native plant seeds had been secured from anonymous donors during the month. They had been immediately sown on suitable sites. Some of the fixed seats in the Park had been repaired. BOATING ON THE LAKE. A fresh set of regulations governing the fares to be charged and the number of passengers to be carried was decided upon in connection with the pleasure boat service on the lake. Under the revised scale the charge per trip will be sixpence per head for adults and threepence for children, with a maximum o? two shillinirs per boat load. Tf hired by the hour, the charge will be 2s per hour, with an additional Is if the services of the boatman are availed of. Landing on the islands is prohibited.
