Sydney, January 31. One of the most important deals ever J arranged in connection with Australian ! copper mining has been completed. The Mount Oxide Company, Queensland, has been acquired by the Consolidated Goldfields and Edmund Davies group, and the Properties Selection Trust, influential London houses with a capital of £475,000. This has so far proved the richest lode in the world. COLONIAL MUTUAL LIFE. Melbourne, January 31. The Government enquiry regarding the Colonial Mutual Life Assurance Company commenced proceedings in private, and has adjourned for the production of certain documents and books which representatives of the petitioners desired.
