About 7.40 o'clock smoke was seen issuing from a ladies' cabin of the second saloon aft. The door was locked, and on being opened it was found that the bedding was smouldering. Tt was thrown out on the deck, and the fire stamped out just as the Fire Brigade arrived promptly in response to a call. The examination showed that the bedding bad been sprinkled with kerosene. The damage, owing to the fortunate early discovery of the fire, was slight. The police have the matter in hand.
