A schoolboy definition from America: "What is a skeleton?" was the question. The answer came swiftly: "Bones with the people rubbed off." The officer in charge ol the 4th Waikato Mounted Rifles, Hamilton, has received from General Sir Herbert Plumer, who is honorary colonel of the regiment, a magnificent silver loving cup, valued at 100 guineas, for inter-troop competition in the regiment. The cup. which is of solid silver, stands on a black oak pedestal, and bears the inscription: "Challenge Cup, presented by Lieutenant-General Sir Herbert Plumer. K.C.K., hon. colonel of the regiment." Rules governing the competition for tlie cup, which is one of the handsomest held by any of the regiments in New Zealand will be drafted shortly.
