LOWE'S COMET.
AN AUSTRALIAN REPORT. Per Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The Government Astronomer has received from Mr. Charles J. Westland a statement of the elements of the comet Lowe, calculated, from observations at Melbourne on December 30 and January 2 and ri. These show that the comet has a retrograde motion, and that it will reach its perihelion on February 0. Mr. Westland supplies the following search ephemesis: January 30, right ascension 22 hours 40 minutes, south declination 28 degrees 44 minutes: February 3, right ascension 22 hours 37 minutes, south declination 20 degrees 23 minutes; February 7. right ascension 22 hours 31 minutes, south declination 24 degrees 11 minutes. This will help observers to find the comet, which has not yet been seen in Wellington, owing to unfavorable I weather.
