CANADA'S OFFER.

CRITICISM BY LABOR MEMBER. By Cable —Press Association — London, January 29. Mr. G. Roberts, M.P., presiding at the conference of the Labor Party at Lambeth, criticised Canada's offer of three battleships, which would greatly add to Britain's annual expenditure. If Mr. Churchill's assurances were accepted, that the defensive forces were sufficient, the three vessels must bo in excess of requirements. Moreover, the giving of the colonies representation on the Defence Committee was fraught with far-reaching consequences, and must be subjected to searching enquiry.
