IN NEW" SOUTH WALES. By Cable—Press A>soeialion—Copyright. Received 2G, 5.5 p.m. Sydney, January 20. Bush fires, due to the heat, and fanned by hot westerlies, occurred in the outer suburbs yesterday. The chief scene of the fire was at Hornsby, where St. Peter's Church and five cottages were destroyed. During the day sixteen localities reported outbreaks. The highest temperature in the shade was recorded yesterday, nearly a hundred degrees. At five o'clock a cool southerly wind sprang up. and the temperature dropped to 74 degrees.
