The wedding of Miss Margaret Mcbrath, second daughter of Mr. P. MeGrath (Oamaru) to Mr. W* H. Wn«d second son of Mr. W. A. Wood. Xew Plymouth, and late of Marchhalt, Shropshire, was celebrated in St. Joseph's Church yesterday, at 2 p.m.. the Right Rev. Dean McKenna, officiating.
Death has removed a familiar figure about town in the person of Robert Weeks, who died at the Old People's Home yesterday, aged 59. The deceased, "who was more familiarly known as "Black Bob," w.is an enthusiastic follower of sports meetings and foothill matches, being ;uite an identity in (his connection.
Mrs. (Dr.) Sloan returned to Hawera, after au absence of over four years in Scotland. Dr. Sloan has decided to settle again and practise in Hawera (states the Star). Owing to difficulty in securing berths, and being anxious to get here as early as possible, they obliged to come by different routes. Dr. Sloan expects to reach Hawera by the middle of February.

Arthur) assistant, Olcato; Mr. Wilfred Hughes) sole teacher, Waiongona; Miss C. E. Bollinger, assistant, Stratford; Miss A. Lewis, sole teacher, Dudley; Miss T. Sutton, assistant, Hillsborough. There were widespread expressions of sincere regret when it was announced in Napier on Tuesday morning that Air. John Martin, of Lucy Road, had passed away. The late Mr. Martin was a very old settler, having arrived in Napier in ISG3 after spending his first yearill New Zealand at Auckland. He'was born in Kent, England, on January 17th, 1533, leaving for Tasmania with his parents when five years of age. The late Mr. and Mrs. Martin celebrated their golden wedding about seven years ago. A painful sensation was caused in Napier on Tuesday when it became known that Mr. E. L. Smith, the wellknown builder, of Raffles street, had died suddenly. Mr. Smith, who was about 52 years of age, arrived in Napier some twenty-eight years ago, when he assisted his father io build the Napier post office and other largo buildings in Napier. He was a trustee for the Manchester Lodge of Oddfellows and a prominent, Free jVTason. A wife and family of four girls, the eldest being 20 yofirs of age, are left to mourn their loss.
In St. Mary's Church yesterday afternoon Mr. Ernest Percival (Terry) Fenton, of Masterton, was married to Miss .Tovce D. Fitzherbert, eldest daughter of Mrs. I-I. S. Fitsshsrbjsrt. of New Plymouth. The bride, who was given away by Mr. W. S. Fit/.herbert. of Palmereton North, was attended by the following bridesmaids:- —Misses Laurie and Sybil Fitzlierbcrt, Miss Keitha Saxton. and' her four nieces: Duleie, Marjory. Betty and-Patrieia. Mr. Bert AYhitcombe was nimi, and tlio groomsmen voics Messrs. Austin Bewley and Gideon Pott. The Rev A. H. Colvile was the officiating clergyman, and Mr. Wcller presided at tlie organ.
