Tlic following motions were carried, hearing' upon the St. Aiiliyn merger: (1) That Mr. J. Skinner's account for commission on work supervised by him be referred to the Mayor to effect a compromise and to arrange with him for the termination of his present engagement; (2) that the offer of Messrs Russell and Ron to eliminate from their contract the kerbing and channelling of the South road from the rorth-western boundary of section 3, Bonithon, to the intersection of Motuvoa road and South road, be accepted.

FINANCE. A return was submitted comparing tha estimated receipts for expenditure , for the year ending March 31, 1013. with the actual receipts and expenditure for nine months ending December 31, 1012. The estimated receipts for the year were £22,337, and the, actual receipts so far £20.824. The estimated expenditure to March 31, 1013, was £23,337, and the actual expenditure to December 31. 1012, £20,332. On December 31. 1912, there was a credit balance of £492.

A return was also tabled showing that the expenditure on the streets and sewer loan had been as follows: —Sewers, £3318; streets, £3200; total, £6525. This leaves an unexpended balance of '£4749. GENERAL. _ Mr. E. Griffiths waited upon the Council with reference to the suggested widening of Paynter's Lane and the Old Hospital road, but consideration of the matter was deferred. It was decided that a New Plymouth surveyor be appointed to prepare a.plan of the portion of the borough reserve at Skinner road taken by the Public Works Department for a quarry. The electrical engineer was instruwfced to erect a light in Sackville street, Fitzroy, in place of the one proposed to be plaeed in Record street. At a late hour the Council adjourned uitil Thursday night.
