TARASiAKI JOCKEY CLUB. A meeting of the Metropolitan Com- '.. mittee of the Taranaki Jockey Club. was held last night, there being presentMessrs. Upper, Nolan, Elliot, Orbell, Clmney. Weston, B]ui«?ell, Ellis and : Standish. One gentleman's rider certificate was granted, and two jockeys li- ' censes were cancelled at the request of ' the holders. At a subsequent meeting of the committee of the Club seven new members were elected. . Mr. R. H. Piggott's resignation as honorary judge was accepted. It was resolved to thank Mr. Piggott for kis past services. ' It was resolved to grant a donation of £lO 10s to the Expansion and Tourist League. The subcommittee's expenditure of £B7 17s on public conveniences at the course was approved. It was decided to engage the Taranaki Garrison Band for the February meeting on the same terms as at the Christmas meeting, and the Course . Committee was instructed to arrange for a situation for the band. The question of the luncheon and afternoon tea"'privi- > • leges was left in the hands of a subcommittee, who will also arrange for the purchase of the Club's own crockery.*! >: The sub-committee's action in arranging with the Borough Council for a fourinch water main at a cost of £225 was approved. Accounts amounting to £319 were passed for payment. i
