THE GARMENT-WORKERS' STRIKE. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. 2few York, January 19, Hatpins and umbrellas were the women's weapons in a fierce attack made on the police in the garment-workers' strike. Dozens of women were arrested. Many of the police were injured. Forty thousand Chicago garment-workers are planning a sympathetic strike. Thirty thousand dress and shirt-waist makers have been granted an increase in wages. They are likely to resume work, despite dissatisfaction at the smallness of the increase. A STRIKE SETTLED. London, January 19. The seamen's strike at Hull has been settled, pending a shipowners' conference. STRIKE OF GLASGOW CARTERS. Received '2O, 5 p.m. London. January '2O.
