NERA-TAVIUNI COLLISION.
HEAVY LAW COSTS. By Telegraph—Press Association. Sydney. January 17. Another stage has been reached in the litigation between the Union Company of New Zealand and the Messageries Maritimes. The Taviuni and Nera had a collision on October 2, 11)11. The I'aviuni sank with a cargo of copra, and the Nera was considerably damaged. The Union Company claimed £BO.OOO, and thi' Mcssageries Company claimed several thousands. Mr. Justice Street found that the Nera was solely to blame. The Messageries Company appealed to the Full Court, and the iatter reversed Mr. Justice Street's judgment. ahe 1 nion Company lia> now applied for leave to appeal to the Privy Council, and respondents have agreed to the appeal.
