DOUBLE DROWNING FATALITY.
.«•. . A PATHETIC TRAGEDY. ' , By Telegraph—Press Association. Christchureh, Last Night. v A double drowning fatality occurred ' at New Brighton this afternoon. A married woman named Mabel Highet', 32 years of age, wife of Mr. Gibb Highet, of Christchurcli, was bathing in the river Avon at Herring Bay, when she got out of her depth and into difficulties Her brother-in-law, John Highet, aged 37. who was bathing at the time, went to her assistance, but was dragged under. Both were drowned. Mrs. Highet'* two small children, five years and three years old, were on the bank of the river when the tragedy happened. Dragging operations commenced shortly afterwards, and the bodies were recovered and brought to the city morgue.
