NINTH ANNUAL GATHERING.

Programmes have been issued in con- | nection with the ninth annual meeting ) of the Taranaki Rifle Association, which wDI be held on the Rewa Rewa rifle J range, Waiwakaiho, on Thursday and j Friday. February (i and 7. An attrac- | tive series of matches has been arrang- ) ed, and the prize money will be on a [ liberal scale. Shooting will commence at j 7.30 a.m. on the Thursday with the Ka- I ponga match, over 300 and 500 yards. \ There will be 30 prizes, ten of which are J for tyros. In the Inglewood Match (500 | and 000 yards) the prize money will aggregate £3O 10s, and in the New Plymouth Match (300. 500 and 000 Yards) the first prize will be Mr. H. 'Okey, | M.P.'s trophy of £2 2s and the prize | money awarded by the Association. The first prize in the Grand Aggregate will be the Champion Belt (presented by Mr. T. King), a gold medal (presented by the Licensed Victuallers' Association, valued ' at £3 3s) and £1 given by the Associa- ' tion. The second prize will be a silver medal presented by Mr. J. Bennett, and £1 10s. the third £l, and three prizes of 10s. In the Teams' Match, open to teams from any Territorial Company or Defence Rifle Club, over distances of - 300. 500, and 000 yards, the winning squad will be awarded £5 and the Tisfeh Memorial Challenge Cup, to be held for twelve months. Other matches will comprise: Stratford Match (800. 000 and 1000 yards), and the Patea Match (1000 , yards), in each of which no fewer than [ 30 prizes will be allocated. There will I also be the Last Try Match, over 500 j yards. Figure targets will be used at the 300 yards range. Entries will close i with the secretary of the Association. 1 Mr. T.
