SUMMARY AND FORECAST. By Telegraph.—Press Association. ; Wellington, Last Xight. The barometer fell low in the .South during the night, but has shown a rising tendency already this afternoon at the Bluff. Westerly winds, strong- to a gale, have prevailed, especially over the South Island. Sultry weather has been reported to-day on the East Coast of both Islands. Present indications are for high Westerly winds, veering to southerly,*' with squally weather conditions. The barometer will probably fall in the North for a short time, and rise in the South, though it is very unsteady there. and a further fall is likely to follow a temporary rise. Changeable weather ■with heavy showers and some electrical disturbances are probable in most parts of the Dominion.
