ADVERTISING THE DISTRICT.

-«. .. EXI'AXSIOX AND TOURIST LEAGUE, A meeting of the executive of the Expansion and Tourist League was held last evening', there being present: Dr. Leatham (chairman), Messrs. (!. White. •J. MeLeod, W. Bewlev, T. ('. List, A. K Sykes. W. A. Collis, J. Cruiekshank. \V Auibury and E. Griffiths. ; The committee set up at last meeting to interview the stable-keepers re revising the tariff charges for the Mountain House service presented their report, which evoked considerable discussion. The tariffs of some of the local carriers were also put in and referred to, and it was eventually decided to arrange a weekly service to the Mountain, a "committee being appointed to go further into the question, and report to next meeting. It was reported that the Empire Film Company was getting out a.set of three films dealing with North Taranaki subjects for showing throughout the Dominion and elsewhere. The matter of supplying the company with illustrated folders for advertising the pictures was deferred. There was a general opinion that this form of advertising would prove very effective, and that the League, should second the efforts of the Film Company in every way possible. The District Railways manager wrote intimating he could not accede to the League's request to issue week-end excursion tickets from Hawera and intermediate stations to New Plymouth. It was suggested that the matter should not be allowed to rest at this, and that the Minister for Railways be approached on the subject during his forthcoming visit to Taranaki. This is to be done. A committee was set up to make enquiries r c arranging a boat trip from New Plymouth to Sydney. It was stated there would be little difficulty in securing in Taranaki a hundred people who would make the trip at Xmas or Easter time. The committee will make enquiries from the Union S.S. Company, and the Australian shipping companies! It was stated that the motor car owners and Mokau River boat owners would, if sufficient inducement offered, be pre-' pared to arrange a cheap week end Mokau service. The matter will be considered after the Mountain service is inaugurated. The rest of the business was of a routine nature. BUS NOTICES 0.. C. . 6.. 0..(!. .Davy
