am i —______ THEATRE ROYAL PICTURES. The Royal Pictures will present aj complete new selection of films in the : ( Theatre Royal this evening, including a.,:. magnificent sensational star drama, "The : Mystery of Souls," over three thousand; feet m length, said to be one of the: most tragical and thrilling productions! J in the history of picturedom. There will also be a special Selig dramatic study/ "The Rivals," a drama of beach ariiiF mountains pictured on the beautiful Catalina Island. The scenery is unusualJin its beauty, and will delight those' who love thrilling stories amid mountain 1 surroundings. Amongst the other items tyre "Beautiful North Tyrol," 'Opening of Turin Exhibition," "Shir">uilding -in Trieste," "The Blackfoot' Half-breed" (Lubin drama), and amu'slng comic pictures. * ' EMPIRE PICTURES . •" '' Despite counter-attractions the Empire Picture Palace was packed to the 'doors long before the first film was released. The splendid series of films comprising the latest change of programme fully justified the generous patronage of theatre-goers. The music also was in ; it- | self an entertainment, the work of the combined orchestras evoking the warmest approbation. The mainstay of tho programme was four dramatic subjects, representing the leading American c6mpanies and featuring several popular actors and actresses. It is a matter, of discrimination as to which was the best, each film having its own particular in-terest-compelling feature. In "A Poltical. Kidnapping," the audience were taken into confidence and shown soma interesting side-lights on the intricacies of American political campaigns. The length-to." which politics will sometimes drive those who become embroiled in its maze, and the peculiar species of "graft" that obtains in some communities were depicted in a manner which lost nothing bvl its dramatic setting. The film divided honors with a superb Lubin drama, *'Together," which told of the social side of things in high society. Its main theme was the reconciliation of a separated couple through the illness of their only 'child, and it was conspicuous for pome delightful juvenile: acting. "The Unseen Enemy" was a powerfully-east dramatic subject, in which the well-known A. B. Company was shown at its jbest, while all'that is summed up in the word "romance" was contained in an Essauay , drama, "Broncho Billy and the-Indian Maid." Tt depictured love, hatred and adventure in all their varying moods, and was ivpicallv Western.
