5 THE UNIONIST POLICY. A UNANIMOUS PROPOSAL. By Gable—Press Association—Copyright. Eeceived 12, 5.5 p.m. London, January 11. All the Unionists except live signed the memorial. The Pall Mall Gazette says that, the memorial will enable the tariff policy to be instituted immediately the Unionists are returned to power. Mr. Bonar Law, receiving the memorial at Standforth. said that he wou'.d consult with Lord Lansdowne and reply at the earliest opportunity. Mr. Ronald McNeill his announced that 98 per cent, of the Unionists supported the memorial. MR. JESSE COLLINGS' VIEWS. Eeceived 12, 5.5 p.m. London, January 12. Mr. Jesse Collings, intervieAved, said that if tariff reform were advocated, minus food taxes, it meant disaster' to the party. He did not believe that Mr. Joseph Chamberlain was likely to alter his original programme, nor' that the people of Birmingham would he misled by the wiles of anti-food Laxers.
