A TERRIBLE OUTRAGE.
FORTY LEPERS SHOT. By Cable—Press Association Copyright. Received 12, 5.5 p.m. Shanghai, January 11. The authorities at Nanning pretended to accept a Catholic Father's offer to build a lazar house for destitute lepers who had been living for some years a good few miles outside the town. They dug a pit on the parade ground, partly filling it witli wood soaked with kerosene. Thev then drove the lepers into the pit at the bayonet's point. Thirtvnine lepers were shot and incinerated in the presence of large crowds. A fortieth was afterwards shot.
