I LAND FOR SETTLEMENT. Oamaru, Friday. The Government has sanctioned the purchase of Geo. Brace's 206 acre farm at Kakanui under the Land Settlement and Finance Act, 1909. The transaction is the first under the Act to take place in the North Otago district. The price averaged £3l per acre. FINED FOR BETTING. Wellington, Friday. On a charge of betting Gilbert James Young was fined £2O.
