CHRISTMAS IN ENGLAND.
CHEERLESS OUTSIDE; HAPPY ; ' INSIDE. (Sydney Sun Special). Lomdon, December 28. Christmas Day in London was cheerless as far as the weather was concerned. The city looked dreary under sheets of sleety rain that fell continuously. ' . ; All over the countryside storms of v snow were falling. But peace and plenty and happiness everywhere characterised the festive season. - -■■ The Royal Family gathered at Sandringham to celebrate the day. Thenj was a huge Christmas tree, 40ft high. The majority of the nobility honored Christmas at home, although there waif a great exodus of city people to fchej Continent. The inrush of Amerijan* and Canadians was particularly large this year. '■••» 'jfl The poor in the suburbs of London were prpvided with puddings and presents, as a result of newspaper appeals} Mr. Will Crooks, the beloved of Pop 4 lar, visited the local workhouse, and after remarking that many of then} there would remember him as a pooi kd in knickerbockers, sang ""Wbon We Were Boys Together." !
