colonial LOANS. London. January S. The Tasmanian loan is quoted at a quarter per cent, discount. The. Chronicle is surprised at the resu'.t of so attractive an issue, which has greatly modified its views regarding the prospects of loans in the near future. The Daily Mail says that the failure is an evidence that the public nowadays is satisfied with nothing below five per cent. Nine colonial loans have been floated since November, only two being fully subscribed. l'oth were offered at five per cent.
