DISTRICT NEWS.

WAREA. (From Our Own Correspondent). A special meeting of the Athletic Club was held in the hall on Saturday night. Mr. K. P. Andrews was voted to the chair. The resignation of the president (Mr. James Simpson), owing to his having left the district, was accepted with regret. Regret was also expressed at tlie death of his brother-in-law, and appreciation of his past services. Mr. A. E. Magon was elected president, and Messrs C. W. Revell and G. E. Julian were appointed to the protest committee in place ,of Mr. Simpson. Mr. Harry Pelham, secretary, also tendered his resignation owing to his leaving the district. The resignation was received with regret. Mr. J. A. Clarke was appointed in his stead, and a resolution was passed, with acclamation, thanking Mr. Pelham for liis past services. Other offices were filled as follows:—Eesult steward, Mr. C. W. Revell; gatekeeper, Mr. T.. E. Larking; whilst Messrs J. A. Clarke and A. E. Magon were appointed to sign cheques. The few weeks' hot and dry weather broke up on December 31, and since then every day has been wet. The rain did not come before it was wanted, as everything was beginning to look very dry, but now, I think, we could do with a few days' sunshine again. The milk supply at the local factory has taken its usual retrogressive step after Christmas.

The Egmont county crusher finished crushing at this end on December 24, and steamed for Pungarehu after Christmas. The crusher broke a record last year, crushing on an average nearly a hundred yards a day. !Mr. A. Cassie, who has been in the hospital for a time, came out on Friday.

Mr. Frank Pierson, who has been ill fur a week or two, was taken into the hospital on Friday night.
