ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES
A DROWNING FATALITY., By Telegraph—Press Association. Christchurdh, January 5. Another drowning fatality occurred at Sumner to-day. A man niimcd Charles Wethcrall Hatchard, thirty years old, living in Bath street, lost his life. He was bathing in the estuary near the pier at the time. KILLED AT A GAS WORKS. Christc'lmrch, Saturday. James Robertson, a married man, resident in Bealey street, was killed at the gas works early this morning. The men were changing shifts, and during the spell Robertson was making minor repairs to an elevator. The machinery was re-started, and Robertson was caught in the gearing and crushed.
