MERCHANT SERVICE GUILD. Sydney, Deeember :11. important developments are pending in the dispute between the shipowners ami the Merchant Service Guild. The State Government, intervening, lias instructed the Industrial Registrar to submit the ease to the Shipping Wages Board.
SYDNEY GAS BILL. Sydney, December 31. (he result of the passing of the Gas Bill a special meeting of shareholders in the Australian Gaslight Company decided to increase the capital by £435,000, appropriating that sum from reserves and premium capital and issuing 70.833 fully paid-up shares, of £G each, in the ratio of one to every two shares now held. The capital will now be £1.2.50.000.
the south: Australian loan. Adelaide, December 31. The Premier, referring to his forthcoming visit to London to lloat a loan, said South Australia was not borrowing because it was in a. corner. He did not intend to borrow at present for big developmental works, but would try to get the money on good terms, and failing that, borrowing would have to wait.
THE SIMPLE LIFE. Sydney, December 31. Chidley, the eccentric advocate of "the simple life," has been ordered to enter into sureties of £4O for his good behaviour for twelve months, or in default to suffer three months' imprisonment,
