NEW ZEALAND CHAMPIONSHIPS. By Telegraph—Press Association. Hastings, Tuesday. In the final of the ladies' troubles, in the New Zealand dhanipionships, Misses (iriM- si ml Travers beat Miss'R. Wellwood Md Mrs. MsJddison. The final of the combined doubles for the New Zealand championship will be played tin's afternoon.
In the continuation of the Australasian championship, Swanston beat Pearce, 6—l, G—2, o—2. The following team has been selected by Mr. Gore to meet the Englishmen at Cbristchurch: —Messrs Ollivier, Fisher, Swanston and Peacock; drat emergency, Goss; second. Brown.
Ollivier, the ex-New Zealand champion, met Parke (England), this morning, Parke won comfortablv, / 6—2,
SOME FINE PLAY. Napier, Tuesday Night. A large attendance again greeted the continuing of the Australasian championship this morning. Fine weather was again experienced, and the courts were found to be holding well. The play during the day was attractive, and as. a consequence, the selectors had the opportunity of witnessing some fine game's. The ex-champion'of New Zealand was luckily drawn against Parke, the'leading player of the English team, and, although lip fell to the redoubtable visitor, all were delighted with the local Iran's play. Mis Kxcellency Lord Liverpool and Lady Liverpool arrived on the grounds about 2,-1.1 p.m., and were welcomed by the president (Mr. G. N. Pharazyn). Play will not be concluded to-day, as it is desired to hold back the finals, so that visitors to the Jlawke's Lay races may see the games to-morrow morning. The results of the play are as follows:
The first match of the day was between Swanston and Pearce. Swanston played a waiting game fro© the outset, and took the set. o—2. o—l. (I—2.
Parke (England) beat OUivior (Xew Z'aland). <!—(>. I/--1, 8-0.- II was a fine gain p. Beamish beat Dixon, both of England, G—-2. 7—5, o—l.
Beamish beat Jirown (New Zealand), G—l, 6—l, 6—B. Lowe arid Beamish beat Swanston and Peacock. 7—.">, 0—1 ; B—lo, o—3.
THE CHAMPIONSHIP MEETING. ' Napier, Last Night. The Australasian Tennis Tournament was continued to-day at Hastings iu line weather. Only the finals were played. There was a big attendance and fine play evoked great enthusiasm. Results: —Parke beat Beamish. 3—6, (i—,'i, I—o, ''—l, 7—5; Dixon and Parke/beat Beamish and Low, o—2, o—4. 0-4. In the final of the championship fol the New Zealand Championship Combined Doublet Ollivier and Miss Mart-gill beat Fisher and Miss Traveiw. o—o, 7—fi.
