THE SIMPLE LIFE. Sydney, December 27. Childlev, of ''The Answer" fame, is again in trouble, and has been remanded on a charge of offensive behaviour. He paraded the streets in primitive dress and addressed crowds of people on his pet subject. "The Answer" is the book upon free love which lie published some years ago. and which was promptly, withdrawn by order of the authorities. FATTH AND ORDER, Received December "27, 11.20 p.m. London, December 27. At the Primate's instance a committee has' been formed, including the Bishop of Oxford, Mr. Eugene Stock, and Drs. Frcrc and Sadler to advance the American proposal for a world's conference on faith and order. The Primate, after a conference with a delegation from the American Church, suggested that the English committee should merely hold itself in readiness to confer with similar committees representing non-episcopal churches or representatives of Roman Catholic and Eastern Churches, and that all non-Anglicans should be approached through the American promoters of the movement.
ACCIDENT ON AN OIL STEAMER. Received December 27. 11.20 p.m. London, December While the oil steamer Haneduards, being completed at Swan and Hunter's yards, Newcastle, was testing 'her oil furnaces, flames shot out of the stokehold and severely burned ten workers. THE STARTING GATE. London, December 27. The Chronicle enumerates 554 horses which got badly away in the 1912 flat racing season, apart from a number kicked at the post. Tt says that the system of starting horses from a stand in conjunction with the starting gate has been a failure, and urges the Jockey Club to test the walk up gate start. AUSTRALIAN LOANS. Brisbane. December 27. The Premier is negotiating with the Commonwealth for a renewal of a million loan for another year. Melbourne, December 27. Premier Watt will sail for England in February to arrange the conversion of the four million loan due for redemption in October, and also to raise two millions additional for public works.
