THE ESCAPED LUNATIC. Bv Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Friday. Lewis, who escaped, from Porirua, was recaptured at Makara yesterday in a state of nudity. DOUBLING PARNELL TUNNEL. Auckland, Thursday. The Hon. Mr. Iterries stated to-d*j that it had been definitely decided to duplicate the Parnel! tunnel, and as soon as funds were available a start will probably be made next year. THE DEFENCE FORCE. Wellington, Friday. The following camps have been fixed bv the Defence Department:—Mounted Rifles Brigade (less a squadron of the 9th), Wellington and East Coast, Mounted Rifles. No. S Mounted Field Ambulance, May 5 to 17, at Oringi. Field Artillery Brigade. March 7 to 15, at Oringi;"No. 4 Company Field Engineers Infantry Brigade. April 14 to 26, at Oringi;'Coast Defence Troops, February 14 to 22, at the Forts; A Squadron 9th (Wellington and East Coast) Mounted Bifles, March 13 to 25. at Gisborne; Dominion Rifle Association. February 27 to March 8. at Trentham.
